"North Star" Fine Art Print

Fine art print of my original art work.

This painting depicts "The Star/An-Najm" in Arabic calligraphy and ties together chapter 53 from the Holy Quran, The Star/An-Najm and the enslaved Africans journey to freedom using the north star. At least 30% of enslaved Africans were Muslim and they held very closely to their faith. They used the heavens not only as a guide to physical freedom but also to spiritual freedom, as the Quran frequently references the celestial bodies as a source of God's many blessings and signs. So even if captivity, one can still be FREE.
