Reclaim Earrings
In an attempt to strip Black Americans from our roots, watermelons, which are native to Africa, were used as a means of our oppression. In the 1860's when minstrel shows came about, they often would depict Black people acting ignorant and dejected while eating watermelons. Because of this, for a time we tried to separate ourselves from watermelons and were ashamed to admit that we enjoyed eating them or we would never be seen eating watermelon in public. But baybeeeee, aint nobody got time for that! It is time to reclaim this fruit and have no fear or shame in our love for this God given fruit.
Also as mentioned with the Black and Pali earrings, watermelons also have significant meaning to our Palestinian siblings. The colors of the watermelon are also the colors of their flag. It is illegal to display the flag, so instead they display watermelons because resistance will always exist in times of oppression.
It also may not be that deep for you and you may just love watermelons lol.
